Mangaluru, Aug 23: The much-awaited project ‘Christachem Janan’, a cinematic play produced by the Konkani Natak Sabha (KNS), is all set to release on September 11.

This cinematic play is primarily produced to mark the Catholic Church's Ordinary Jubilee 2025, focusing on the theme 'Pilgrims of Hope’. The grand premiere of the show will be held on September 9. The play serves as a supportive initiative for the endeavours of the Konkani Natak Sabha.

Dolla Manglur and Mellu Valencia have put in great effort to depict numerous biblical narratives, shedding light on lesser-known details surrounding the nativity of Jesus Christ in their joint directorial ‘Christachem Janan’. M P D Sa is the writer of the play, while Joel Pereira handled the screenplay, lyrics, and music. The cinematography was done by the duo, Danel Jason and Prajwal Suvarna.

‘Christachem Janan’ is a blend of traditional storytelling with modern cinematic techniques. The production promises not only to capture the essence of the nativity but also to bring it to life in a way that resonates with contemporary viewers. The cinematic play not only celebrates the birth of Christ but also heralds a new era for Konkani cinema, paving the way for future endeavours that honour and preserve rich traditions.

Several parishes in the Mangaluru and Udupi Dioceses have expressed interest in screening ‘Christachem Janan’ on their premises. KNS also plans to take the film to Mysuru, Bengaluru, Goa, Mumbai, and even abroad. Those interested in purchasing tickets for the Mangaluru shows or booking the play for their parishes can contact 8660148257 (KNS) or 9880332911 (Pamela Santos).
