Kasargod, Aug 19: Two newly built houses for the poor were handed over, and the foundation stone for a third house was laid as part of the construction project by Christ the King Church, Kayyar.
The two houses, located near Chevar, were inaugurated during a program presided over by Fr Stany Pereira, parish priest of Bela Mother of Sorrows Church and Kasargod zonal chief priest.
Fr Maxim Rosario, estate manager of the Mangalore diocese, blessed the new houses. The event also saw the presence of Fr Vishal Monis, parish priest of Kayyar Christ the King Church, along with other community leaders and donors. The blessing of the third house took place simultaneously, led by Fr Stany Pereira.
Ligory and Bridgit D’Souza, who donated the land for the houses, were felicitated. The houses were handed over to Santhosh Crasta and Peter D’Souza. The event also honoured those who contributed to the construction, including engineer Radhakrishna Muliya.
Fr Vishal Monis welcomed the attendees, Roshan D’Souza gave the vote of thanks, and Anson and Risha compered the event.
