Udupi, Aug 18: Udupi Block Congress president Ramesh Kanchan expressed outrage against Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar, stating that Kumar has no moral right to seek the resignation of CM Siddaramaiah, as he himself is guilty of creating a fake idol of Lord Parashurama.

Kanchan said, “Sunil Kumar misused his ministerial position and deceived people by installing a fake bronze idol of Lord Parashurama on Umikal Hill in Karkala. It is condemnable that despite CM Siddaramaiah’s name not being mentioned in the MUDA case, the BJP, in a bid to play revenge politics, has used central power through the governor to authorize prosecution against the CM. BJP leaders, who realize that winning back the hearts of Karnataka’s public, who defeated them in the last election, is not easy, are resorting to backdoor tactics to bring down the Congress government.

“The BJP is unable to digest the huge success of the five guarantees given by Congress to the people of Karnataka. This is why they are attempting to tarnish the Congress government’s reputation using the governor’s power. Governor Thavarchand Gehlot has granted permission for prosecution in a case that does not pertain to him, which is against the constitution. Therefore, the governor should be immediately removed from his position.

“Central and state BJP leaders, unable to accept Ahinda leader Siddaramaiah becoming CM for the second time, are plotting against him every day. However, Siddaramaiah has the support of the entire cabinet, MLAs, and six crore Kannadigas. The BJP should recognize this support. Previously, when BJP and JDS leaders were involved in many scams, the governor did not take any action.

“Siddaramaiah, who is providing capable pro-people administration, is upholding social justice. He has never misused his power as CM. Though he has not committed any fraud, the governor has authorized prosecution in the Mysuru MUDA site allotment case. This is a murder of democracy. The governor has shown that he is biased towards the BJP, which is against the constitution. He should be immediately removed from his position.”
