Bantwal: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel Urges Students to Aim High in Sports

Bantwal, Nov 11: Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateel urged the students to create history by setting their sights on a win at sports meets.

He was speaking after inaugurating the taluk primary and high school sports meet that was organized jointly by public instruction department, office of Bantwal block education and TP, in association with Government High School, Sujeer – Pudu, at S V S High School grounds, on Thursday November 10 and Friday November 11.


“Sports is essential for peace and harmony,” said Kateel.  He also urged physical trainers to impart quality training to the students. Mangalore MLA U T Khader presided over the programme. He said that national strength lies in empowering the students both in studies and in play.

 Bantwal MLA B Ramanath Rai, after hoisting the flag, said that the efforts of teachers lie in shaping future sports personalities who will bring national fame and laurels to their native places. Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat president Shailaja Bhat, after accepting the guard of honour, emphasized the need to instill discipline both in class and in sports.

TP president Shailaja Shetty lit the sports torch on the occasion.Bantwal town councilor Dinesh Bhandary, TP vice-president Dinesh Amtoor, deputy councilor Janaki S Gopal, ZP members Jayasree K A, ZP member Chandraprakash Shetty Thumbe, TP member Chennappa Kotian, PLD Bank president Sudarshan Jain, and Sujeer Government High School overseeing committee president Prakaschandra Rai Devasya were present on the occasion.

BEO Sudhakar K welcomed the gathering.  Sujeer Government high school head teacher Sasi Mangala proposed the vote of thanks.  Teacher Hariprasad compered the programme.
