Udupi, Nov 10: District superintendent of police, Dr Y S Ravikumar, has informed that Ganesh, constable attached to Hiriyadka police station, has been suspended from immediate effect on Wednesday November 9. Ganesh had gone missing, after his role in efforts to sell brown sugar worth Rs 1.65 crore at Manipal came into the open.
He also said that Palaksha, constable of Hassan police station, is also involved with this activity. “We have written to the superintendent of police, Hassan, asking him to initiate action against Palaksha, and to help the district police to trace him. The policemen are also on the look out for another person, who has gone underground after the incident,” Ravikumar said.
The case has since been transferred to Manipal police station from Malpe police station of Coastal Security Force. Four accused persons, who have been arrested in this connection, are in judicial custody. Teams of policemen have been deputed to other districts for finding out and arresting three other accused, including two policemen, it is gathered.
