Mangaluru, Aug 8: Indian Catholic Youth Movement, Permannur hosted Aqua Splash – 4.0, an inter ward water games event on August 4 at St Sebastian’s School ground. The program began by welcoming the guests to dias with the tunes of school band. After which 24 teams marched forward led by ICYM president. God’s presence was invoked through a prayer song led by the ICYM members. The program was inaugurated in a very special and creative way. Fr Cyprian Pinto, parish priest, St Sebastian Church, Permannur presided over the program.
Fr Johnson Denzil Pereira, assistant parish priest, Alwyn D'Souza as game convener, Jyothi D'Souza, secretary, Parish Pastoral Council, Sr Joseph Mary, superior, Bethel Convent, Rudolph D'Souza, convener, Youth Commission, Sr Jyothika, headmistress, St Sebastian English Medium School, Avit Premsom Lobo, Deanery Rep, Deril D'Souza, animator, Rayan D'Souza, animator president, Rishal D'Souza and secretary Nishitha Lobo were present on the dias. President Rishal D'Souza welcomed the gathering. Fr Cyprian Pinto, in his presidential speech, appreciated the youth for organising such a great event to bring about unity among the parishioners and wished good luck to all the participating teams.
Alwyn D'Souza conducted the games. All the donors and well wishers were thanked and presented with a token of gratitude.
AS many as 24 wards with 240 participants took part in the competition. Fathima 1st ward emerged as the Champions, Infant Jesus Ward as first runner-up and St Sebastian 1st ward as second runner-up. Fathima 1st ward won the first place and St Sebastian 1st ward won the second place in the March Past competition. President Rishal D'Souza proposed a vote of thanks. The members worked relentlessly for the success of the event. The event ended with a rain dance.
