Bantwal, Nov 10: District Congress Committee (DCC) staged a protest at Vittal, near here, on Tuesday November 8, against the state government over the deplorable roads and condemning the failure of the administration.
Addressing party activists, AICC secretary Vinay Kumar Sorake said that the state administration is not governing effectively. “It has been wasting time on resolving internal issues, without giving due consideration for pro-people development work.
The national programmes implemented by the union government – Mahatma Gandhi Employment Guarantee, Indira Awaz, Gram Sadak, Basavakalyan, etc are not effectively implemented by the state administration,” he alleged.
Sorake urged the state administration to repair the roads in Vittal at the earliest and said that otherwise the party activists will undertake a walkathon from Sampaje to Mani on Monday November 21.
He also said that the union government has sanctioned a compensation of Rs 60,000 each for the agriculturists for loss of crops.
Congress leader Bondala Jagannat Shetty said that in order to know the state of affairs of the state administration, one had to travel on roads across the state. “Electricity black-outs will be a reality very soon. The efficiency in government departments exists no more. Despite the people struggling for ration cards, farmers are distressed over loss of their crops and not getting state compensation; the state administration seems unmindful,” he alleged.
ZP member M S Mohammed also addressed the protesters on the occasion.
The road blockade was laid at the four roundabouts and a protest rally was held at Vittal bus stand.
District youth Congress president Praveenchandra Alva, Congress local leaders Ramanat Vittal, Rajesh Kumar Balekallu, Jaleel Karopady, Raghav Poojary Hittilu, Sanjeev Naik Amei, and Karim Kuddupadav were present.
