Mangalore, Nov 9: On account of 'World Diabetes Day', A J Hospital & Research Centre will organize a Diabetes Awareness Programme at the Conference Hall(II Floor) of the hospital on Monday November 14.
India is known as the “Diabetic Capital” of the world. Every one in five people are suffering from diabetes in India. The prevalence of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases is rising sharply. Majority of people are not aware of the complications it can produce.
Diabetes produces many complications like chronic kidney failure (requiring repeated dialysis),neuropathy, visual loss (due to retinopathy), heart attack, paralysis, gangrene of the foot, sexual dysfunction, among others. All these things are happening in spite of the fact that these can be prevented before the onset. Hence the hospital is providing a unique opportunity to know more about diabetes and prevent its complications.
All those interested in attending the awareness talk are requested to register their names by Saturday November 12.
