Mangalore, Nov 9: "Its not mere violence but terrorism’ expressed Justice Michael Saldhana when asked about the constant attack on churches, at a press meet here on Tuesday November 7.

Justice Saldanha claimed that its not just economic progress that is important in the state but communal harmony. He grieved for not taking any action by the Government, the root of the problem must be traced and instigator should be brought to the court, he said. He advised to stop enmity between religions and live in social freedom.

He lamented for the cases filed against the poor people, who have no money to afford a lawyer and students, whose career has been affected. He mentioned the partiality in the judicial treatment bringing up the recent issues of politicians. Rich and the powerful are admitted to the hospitals to refrain from going to jail. They demand AC, TV, special food, toilet and the 5 star facilities, Justice Saldhana commented.

P B D’Sa, the district president of People’s Union of Civil Liberties (PUCL) was also present.

D’Sa speaking to the press persons announced that the church-attacks-report will be published in kannada version on November 27 in Mysore, followed by Mangalore and Udupi. He condemned for the differences in facility given to the rich and poor by the judiciary. Bail is granted to the people who have looted the country, and some are put in jails just for pelting stones, he added.

Justice Saldanha requested media to play an important role in bringing back harmony and peace in the state.

    Sachidanand,

Its upto you to believe when I say that there is no forceful conversion going on and if an adult person is willingly offering to accept Christianity, there are several formalities and permissions it takes quite some time by one is brought into Christianity. A case witnessed by me is of a Christian lady married to a Hindu. She wanted to baptize her children which was flatly refused by the church authorities saying that they are not authorized to do it.

As far as STC/OBC is concerned, these people are deprived of help just because voluntary organizations are branded to be attempting to convert them. This is a total injustice towards them.

However, I commend you over your attempt for equality - keep up the good work. For me religion is not relevant but equality - oh yes - each person rightfully deserves it.

Dear Lydia, let us not debate who is wrong and who is correct? I accept being a Hindu we still stop some lower cast people to enter in to some Brahmin dominated Temples which is still in practice. But I tried in my own village by taking one such lower cast person who plays cricket with us to our Temple. The person who performs Pooja in that temple stares at me and at him too but advised him that he should come to temple by least taking bath and keeping his dress neat and clean, since then he was never stopped to visit that Temple till date he said.
But I know very well this conversion business is still going on in our Districts especially targeting ST/SC People those are having very low education and offering them monitory gain too
I only said to Justice Saldhana that if he says stone pelting at Churches are terrorism act then I still stick to my word “DEATH PENALTY FOR PEOPLE INVOLVED IN CONVERSION” too

    Sachidanand,

How does, not giving a holiday for Christmas (that too in a Gulf Country), make westeners non-christians ? Let them try that in India by not giving holiday for Diwali lets see how much you agree with their practice !

You said death penalty for pastors who convert people to Christianity which nobody proved. Only offense was distributing anti-Hindu literature - here you don't relax your rule to let Hindus get attracted to Pastors' teachings as you say about what westeners do with the swamis ? Look young man - the fundamentalists are instigating communalism by raising false alarm of force-conversion which is not true because Christian population is still 2 or 2.5% !

One more point of yours is that Westeners do not go to Church - that does not make them Non-Christians either ? Or, does it ? Like you take Tribals as Hindus whereas they worship strange erected articles - they don't care who Braham/Shiva/Vishnu is !

Lydia, do you know that western Christians are not even goes to Churches for Pray on regular basis? I work for European Christian dominated Company where they even do not give holiday for Christmas to at least for Christians since there is no Holiday for Christmas in Gulf Countries. So do you thing that they convert themselves to Hindu Religion? People come from Western Countries just because they are attracted to Hindu Culture to learn more about Hindus but never denounce their religion and convert to Hindu

    Sachidanand,

Can you also apply some transparency and impose death penalty on those swamis too who go westwards and convert those people to Hinduism from a culture totally disagreeable with Hinduism ?

Dear Justice Michael Saldhana, you are became so communal that even a small stone pelted at Churches became a big issue for you. Even though I am not too fundamentalist like you but being a true follower of Hindu Ideology now I insist death penalty for Christians Pastors involved in conversion of Hindus since you called “Attack on Churches Not Just Violence but Terrorism “. Will you please agree for two sided Justice like this?

Justice Saldhana, exactly yes.It is like terrorism. But definition of terrorism is defined by their own terms which is a problem. Finally haves not only suffering in any kind of disturbances and made scapegoat while haves, who are instigator continues their sickness unabated.Unless security department given free hand and with out bias if Police books the culprits in appropriate section, these types of incidents may brought to under control.
