Mumbai, Jul 29: Artistes from Mumbai's theatre, who had worked closely with Sadananda Suvarna, held a tribute event on July 27 at the small auditorium of the Mysuru Association.
During the event, Jagadish Rai and Karunakara Shetty Hebri read excerpts from the drama Roopa Darshana. The Suvarna Namana was a heartfelt tribute from both the artists and the Kannadigas of Mumbai.
Sai Ballal shared his experiences with Sadananda Suvarna and announced plans to erect a statue of Suvarna at his amphitheater in Pune. Dr Manjunath praised Suvarna for his organizational skills, while Manjunathaiah highlighted Suvarna's contribution to Kannada stage art in Mumbai. Kamalaskha Saraf noted that Suvarna was a great admirer of stage theatre. Dayasagar Chowta spoke about Suvarna's humanitarian efforts, including his financial support for Kannada school children in Dharavi.
Kannangar played an audio tribute from Girish Kasarvalli, while Madhusudhan TR, president of Kannada Kala Kendra, mentioned that various teams will have the opportunity to stage Suvarna's dramas. The large turnout reflected the respect he commanded, he added.
SK Sundar, Dr Surendra Kumar Hegde, Dr Bharath Kumar Polipu, Nityananda D Kotian, Ashok S Suvarna, Mohan Marnad, Yajna Suvarna, Gopal Trasi, KVR Aithal, Shekhar Ameen, Shayamala Madhav, and representatives from various organizations also paid their respects to Suvarna. .
