Mumbai, Nov 3: Devdas Kapikad’s Cha-Parka Tulu drama troupe kicked off their tour of the metro and the state, by staging the first show of ‘Badukuna Saadi’, a moral-social play at Dr M Vishveshwarayya auditorium of Karnataka Sangh, Matunga, on Tuesday November 1.
‘Vaastu’ consultant Ashok Purohit inaugurated the first show. In his message, Purohit lauded the service of Devdas Kapikad, a recipient of Karnataka Rajyotsav Award – 2010, in promoting Tulu through various dramas for more than 25 years.
S S Udupa, priest, Umamaheshwari temple Jerimeri, Andheri (East) graced the occasion.
Cha-Parka troupe director Sharmila D Kapikad, organizer Prakash Shetty Suratkal, and troupe manager Satish Shetty Panchimaru Bantakal were present on the dais.
Rama B C Road, Bhojaraj Vamanjoor, Timmappa Kulal, Satish Bandale, Richard Pinto, Pandurang, Suresh Kulal B C Road, Raghavendra Karant Melkar, Sunita and Monica are the artistes of Cha-Parka troupe. Prasad Bayar and Varma Vittal are the musicians. Gurudev Sounds Kapikad are the audio specialists, while Suresh Master and Nani Bantwal are the make-up artistes. Gurudev Arts Kapikad set the stage.
“Cha-Parka troupe will stage 30 shows of ‘Kalakambula’, a Tulu drama that depicts the tragedies in the life of a woman and her triumph. The metro’s last show will be held on Monday November 14. Former ‘Mr World’ Raymond D’Souza will present a show during the concluding ceremony,” informed Karnoor Mohan Rai, Mumbai convener of the troupe.
