Bhatkal: Advani to Address Public Gathering on Nov 1

Bhatkal, Oct 31: Jan Chetna Yatra launched by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national leader L K Advani to create awareness about corruption in the country will enter Uttar Kannada district through Gorate village in Bhatkal taluk on Monday October 31 night, said BJP district president Prasad Karwarkar at a press meet here recently.
He said that Advani will stay at Murudeshwar on October 31 and will address a public gathering at Manaki Ground in Kumta at 10 am on November 1.
He will also hoist Kannada flag to mark Kannada Rajyotsava Day, Prasad Karwarkar added.
He further said that Advani's Jan Chetna Yatra will be accompanied by over 30 vehicles and 120 people before leaving for Kumta via Honnawar. He will also offer prayers at Murudeshwar Temple.
The rally will reach Karwar at 12:30 pm after programmes at Kumta.
Advani will be accorded farewell at Majali border. Party workers from Shimoga, Haveri, Dharwad and other districts will attend the public gathering in Karwar.
Around 25000 party workers from Uttar Kannada districts are expected to attend the programme, Karwarkar added.
BJP office bearers Rajesh Nayak, Nagaraj Joshi, Gaja Surangekar and Dattaram Kachrekar among others were present at the press conference.
Deputy Commissioner B N Krishnaiah held a meeting to discuss preparations and security arrangements for the rally, here Friday October 28.
He instructed the police authorities to ensure peaceful passing of Jan Chetna Yatra of BJP national leader L K Advani through Uttar Kannada district.
Krishnaiah asked the police to keep vigil on movement of ships and other sea transport means and added that fishermen should be duly instructed.
He also advised the police to keep a tab on persons moving in suspicious manner within the district’s jurisdiction.
National highway authority's Karwar division officials were asked to repair the national highways in the wake of Advani's visit. The DC also asked to keep ambulance service team ready.
