Washington, Jun 26: The Washington DC, Maryland & Virginia Mangalorean Catholic Association committee and its volunteers organized a fun-filled get-together at the Cabin John Regional Park in Bethesda, Maryland.
Over 110 people attended the get-together. The setting was perfect for a delicious, BBQ style lunch, games, and socializing.
This year’s theme included Father’s Day celebration.
The event started with socializing and catching up with friends, making old and new ones. It was nice to see people enjoying pleasant conversations and making connections with friends and families. The attendees were welcomed by MCA president: Julia Dante. She also introduced new and first-time guests. It was great to see the participation in fun team building games. These games created laughter-filled memories. Malin Noronha enthusiastically conducted the games for children and led Zumba which had participation from almost all. Many free choices of games were available such as Volleyball, soccer, badminton etc. throughout the get-together.
All the people who celebrate their birthdays in June had the opportunity to cut a big chocolate cake together and later enjoyed it for dessert.
For Father’s Day, a beautiful tribute to father figures was shared by Malin Noronha for providing the love, support, and strength to their families. Also, some children and grownups shared their views about fathers. It was a beautiful moment.
No get-together is complete without scrumptious food. There was a delightful spread of mouth-watering dishes, along with refreshing beverages and delectable desserts. There were snacks, chips, lemonade, sodas, beer, wine, and water available throughout the day. The highlight of the picnic was the delicious BBQ. The main force behind BBQ was Clint Almeida along with Clement Noronha, and Reynel Castelino that was enjoyed by all.
As they were winding up the picnic, hot and soothing tea/coffee was served along with freshly prepared bhelpuri by Prakash Sequeira and team. Esmie Wright led the prayer before meals. Fun and socializing continued throughout the event.
The DC MCA committee will be organizing two more events for the year: Monthi Fest (Feast of Nativity) on September 14 and Christmas celebration on December 7.
