Mangalore, Oct 24: B Nagaraj Shetty, chairman of Coastal Development Authority, has resumed work after several months of self-imposed political exile. It is said that Shetty, who had remained stubborn at not withdrawing his resignation from this post, relented at the behest of the present state Chief Minister (CM) and other leaders.
Reportedly, allegations which made the rounds relating the assault on a party activist in Bantwal, had hurt Shetty. He had submitted his resignation to the above post and also the BJP membership on June 22 this year. Since then, Coastal Development Authority had remained headless. The then CM, B S Yeddyurappa, had visited Naagaraj Shetty during the former’s Dharmasthala visit, in an attempt to convince him to change his stance. BJP state president, K S Eshwarappa, also had expressed hope that the episode will see a happy ending. The resignation Shetty had submitted was kept pending all these days by the party’s state president.
Shetty however, neither withdrew his resignation, nor attended party meetings thereafter. He withdrew his resignation only after Sadananda Gowda rose to become the CM of the state. It is learnt that Shetty availed off none of the facilities which go with the post of the chairmanship of the authority during his absence. He has now begun participating in the programmes of the corporation and the party and hogging the limelight, a sign that he has embraced active politics again.
