Mangaluru, Jun 12: “The stabbing incident involving BJP workers in Boliyar was a premeditated act. Siddaramaiah is acting like Tipu Sultan and is running a Taliban-style government in the state,” said R Ashoka, the leader of the opposition in the state assembly.
Ashoka was speaking to the media after visiting Nandan and Harish, who were injured in the Boliyar stabbing incident, to inquire about their health and wellbeing.
He noted that the lethal assault was carried out with a dragon knife, suggesting it was a pre-planned act. He questioned where such a knife could come from on short notice. Referring to a video, he mentioned that the slogan ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ was chanted in front of a mosque. In the rest of the country, those who chant slogans for the nation are honoured, but in Karnataka, especially in the Mangaluru-Udupi region, incidents involving the use of dragon knives are occurring. He claimed that the state is under a Taliban-like government, where no one dares to question or speak against the government.
Ashoka accused Siddaramaiah of acting like Tipu Sultan ever since coming to power. He claimed that all actions reflect Tipu’s ways. During Siddaramaiah's previous administration, murders occurred in Shivajinagar, Bengaluru, and there were 30-40 murders across the state. He warned that Karnataka is becoming a state of murders again. According to National Crime Statistics, crime in Karnataka has increased by 40% this year. Whenever the Congress comes to power, it becomes a festival for goons, Taliban elements, and agents of Pakistan.
He also accused the police of filing counter-cases to force compromises. Ashoka warned that the Congress will have to pay the price for the Boliyar incident. He questioned the police commissioner about records suggesting that the victims were labelled as Pakistani spies. He claimed that those who chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ are being attacked with dragon knives. He criticized the government for providing biryani and releasing those who shout pro-Pakistan slogans at Vidhana Soudha. He remarked that the home minister seems unaware of his responsibilities and assured that he would raise his voice about the entire incident in the legislative assembly. Ashoka also mentioned that he would discuss corrective measures with the district authorities.
MP Brijesh Chowta, district BJP President Satish Kumpala, MLAs Y Bharat Shetty and Vedavyas Kamath, MLC Prathapsimha Nayak, and leaders Hemant Shetty Deralakatte and Anil Bagambila, among others were present.
