Puttur: Illegal Cattle Trafficking – Two Held, Vehicle Confiscated

Puttur, Oct 21: The policemen, who came across illegal transportation of cattle at Ramudelu near Nanila of Charvaka village in the taluk on the night of Wednesday October 19, arrested two persons. Two others fled from the scene, while seven heads of cattle and the vehicle in which they were being taken, were taken into possession. The operation was conducted by the policemen of Kadaba station.

After the villagers tipped the policemen of the fact that seven cows either bought or stolen from Charvaka surroundings were being transported in a vehicle late night on Wednesday, the policemen chased the pick up truck in which the cattle were being taken. The pick up truck tumbled at Ramudelu. While two of the traffickers disappeared from the scene, the policemen could arrest the other two.

The arrested have been identified as Ummer (33), and Abdul Rashid (26) residents of Shantinagar, Murulya village, Sullia taluk. The policemen said that Kushalappa Gowda and Hanif Naitady, residents of Ankatadka in Belandur village, gave them a slip.
