Thackeray Warns Modi Against Pampering Muslims

Mumbai, Oct 20 (IANS): Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will lose Shiv Sena's support if he pampered Muslims, the party's chief Bal Thackeray Thursday said.

"If he (Modi) errs, we shall not support him. I will not allow my country and Hindutva to be sullied by this," Thackeray said, referring to Modi's demand for relaxation of visa procedure for Pakistanis wanting to pray at the Ajmer dargah in Rajasthan.

Thackeray's comments were published Thursday in the final instalment of a three-part marathon interview to Prem Shukla, the executive editor of Hindi eveninger 'Dopahar ka Saamna'.

The Shiv Sena chief said he had earlier supported Modi when some people in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were opposing him. He said this while discussing the purported rift between senior leader L.K. Advani and Modi on the former's ongoing nationwide 'rath-yatra'.

He had told Advani that if "Modi goes, then Gujarat would go out of BJP's hands".

Though Modi is considered as the 'strongman' of Gujarat, Thackeray pointed out that once "air fills somebody's head", it was natural that he would stray from his path.

    Its easy to understand good people do good things and bad people do bad things. But its sad that sometimes good people do bad things for whatever reasons.
    Modi has done things which he may rue and he has to be investigated and dealt with as appropriate. When he does good, which he has done so predominantly one needs to support him.I haven't seen Bal Thackeray has been inspired to do or for that matter, say anything good.

    Dear Thackeray we don't want to say bad words seeing your age as we all are INDIANS , we know under Mr. Modi in Gujarat all Muslims are doing well if you pull out the records for entire INDIA you will know in only Gujarat ,Muslims shows highest no of people are studying in University /School / Colleges and even employed in GOVT SECTOR even you can see Muslim people having highest bank account in Gujarat compare to other congress ruled state we are proud of Mr. MODI and will support for his development project and even he will not let us down development of gujarth means development for our children future.....JAI HIND JAI GUJARATH
