Bengaluru, May 25: Transport minister Ramalinga Reddy has clarified the viral video showing a bus driver using an umbrella while driving, stating that it was a prank orchestrated by the woman conductor of the bus. He also expressed anger towards the BJP for allegedly spreading the fake video and posting comments against the government.
Providing details about the incident, Reddy said, “On May 23, the bus from the Dharwad depot was operating on the Betageri-Dharwad route. Hanumanthappa was the driver, and Anita was the conductor. At 4:30 pm, it was raining, and there were no passengers on the bus. The driver took the umbrella from the woman conductor, drove the vehicle, and asked the woman conductor to make the video for fun.
“There was no roof leakage in the bus. No complaints regarding this matter have been filed with KSRTC authorities by the driver, conductor, or passengers. The vehicle has been inspected by technicians, who confirmed that there is no roof leakage. Both the driver and the conductor have been suspended from service for their irresponsible behavior and for tarnishing the image of KSRTC,” he said in a social media post.
