Stockholm (Sweden), Oct 18 (IANS): India's Somdev Devvarman has crashed out of the men's singles event at the 600,000 Euro Stockholm Open tennis going down fighting in straight sets in the opening round.
The 84th-ranked Somdev Monday went down fighting 6-7(4), 4-6 to wild card Tommy Haas of Germany, who is playing his first tournament since the US Open last month.
Veteran Haas, a two-time semi-finalist here and ranked 290th in the world, next plays the winner of the first round match between Spain's Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and South Africa's Kevin Anderson.
