Mangalore, Oct 17: Senior Congress leader, Janardhan Poojary, termed the complaint of ill health and subsequent admission of former state Chief Minister, B S Yeddyurappa, into a hospital in Bangalore as a devious drama. He said that the incident is fit to be investigated by sitting judges of the state High Court, and demanded judicial probe. Poojary was addressing a press conference here on Sunday October 16.
“I want all those who have worked behind this drama to be unmasked. The entire incident should be thoroughly investigated through judicial inquiry,” he demanded.
Recalling many such past instances, Poojary said that only those politicians who are sent behind bars are seen to complain of multifarious health complications. “Former ministers, Katta Subrahmanya Naidu and Halappa had also complained of ill health at this juncture. Krishnaiah Setty collapsed in the court hall after hearing the verdict. None of them had apparently been suffering from health problems when committing wrongs,” he ridiculed. Noting that the Rath Yatra of senior BJP leader, L K Advani, will enter Karnataka on October 30, he said that the Rath Yatra will get some credibility only if Yeddyurappa is expelled from BJP.
He also expressed his surprise at the compassion shown by former Chief Minister, H D Kumaraswamy, towards Yeddyurappa for being jailed. “Kumaraswamy says he is pained at the jailing of Yeddyurappa, holding Congress party squarely responsible for the same. I don’t know when this enlightenment dawned upon Kumaraswamy. Perhaps, this self-realization came to him after apprehending that he and his wife, Anita, are next in the line to be jailed. His U-turn has surprised me. Is he thinking of entering into an alliance with BJP in the next election,” Poojary questioned.
Congress leaders, Vijay Kumar Shetty, Harikrishna Bantwal, Kallige Taranath Shetty, Suresh Ballal, Lancelot Pinto, Kripa Alva, and others were present at the press conference.
