Moodbidri, Oct 15: A two-day national level seminar on the subject of ‘Modern Trends in Science and Technology’ went under way at Dr M V S Institute of Technology on Friday October 14.
Experts from various engineering colleges will be presenting research papers at the seminar.
Retired vice-chancellor of Mysore University, Prof S N Hegde, inaugurated the seminar on Friday morning. In his address, he laid emphasis on holding incessant and new researches at this competitive era of globalization. He also felt that the engineering colleges should create jobs rather than becoming factories which manufacture workers. He felt that India is lagging behind in providing proper monetary support to research projects as compared to other countries like Japan and China. Dr E J James, dean of R and D department of Karunya University, Coimbatore, participated as chief guest. Founder secretary of Dr M V Shetty Memorial Trust, Dr M R Shetty, presided over the inaugural. Principal of the college, Dr Sandeep Nayak, and administrative officer, Jayaram Hegde, were present.
The valedictory session of the seminar will be held under the presidentship of Dr M R Shetty on Saturday. Prof S A Kori, registrar of Vishweshwaraya Technological University, and Prof Sudhakar Nayak, registrar of Nitte University, will participate as chief guests.
Dr Ullas Gurudas of Karunya University, Dr Shreehari of NITK, Dr M S Indira of MVIT Bangalore, Dr Lucy J Gudino of BITS Goa, Dr K P Soman and Dr S A Khan of Amritha Vidyapeetham, are among those who are scheduled participate in the seminar and present their viewpoints.
