Mangalore, Oct 12: KCCI president Latha R Kini on Tuesday October 11 said that KCCI has put forward several demands relating to development works in the city.
The KCCI has demanded immediate steps to name Mangalore Airport as an international one, setting up of a fire station in industrial area of Bykampady, and also a fisheries port in Kulai among others. These demands have been handed over to the concerned, she said.
An appeal has been submitted to aviation minister Vayalar Ravi in this regard and he has given positive response. Extension of runway by 1000 ft is needed, she told reporters on the occasion.
There has also been an assurance of starting cargo flight service from Bajpe from October. This would give good support to the business sector, she said.
Mangalore needs bus stands and footpaths. Auto prepaid service should be extended to Kankanady. Highways connecting Mangalore city is in bad condition and they should be repaired, she added.
