Mangaluru, Apr 22: Badshah Sambaruthota, district president of Ahind Okkuta Dakshina Kannada said that the federation supports Congress candidate Padmaraj Poojary as he is the one who is able to take the district to the national level in terms of education, social and economic development. In addition, Badshah said that Padmaraj belongs to the backward community and has given social justice to people.
Badshah spoke at a press conference that was held at Ullal Press Club. He further said, “Chief Minister Siddaramaiah formed Ahinda federation in 2005 for the development of minorities, backward communities and Dalits. The main aim of the federation is to bring Dalits, backward communities and minorities to the mainstream of society. Now Ahinda is the strongest federation in Karnataka. It is giving social justice, government schemes, facilities of government to the deserved. Kantaraju report was implemented through Ahinda. This helped backward community people to move forward in education and political sectors. With the same intention, Ahinda is supporting Congress candidates throughout the state and will support Padmaraj Poojary in Dakshina Kannada.”
District vice-president Achutha Gatty said, “Among the Ahinda leaders Devaraj Urs worked influentially. Janardhana Poojary gave facilities through banks and Veerappa Moily brought CET. Though there are around 80% backward community people in the country, they have not yet got justice according to Constitution. People of the upper class, who are just 15% are still ruling the country. Even in the opposition administration justice is not done. Ahinda which was formed by Siddaramaiah is making waves in Karnataka. Siddarmaiah has emerged as a strong leader of Ahinda in the whole country and he has all character and capability to become a national leader. Lok Sabha candidate Padmaraj Poojary of Congress is a honest and committed leader. We fully support him. People are saying that Congress is a party of minorities. They must understand that Congress government in Karnataka has 126 Hindu MLAs. Padmaraj has financially helped poor people of backward castes through an organisation called Beladingalu and attempted to bring them to the mainstream of society.”
Puttur taluk Ahinda president Prahlad, Mangaluru city president Mary Santis, Ullal taluk Ibrahim Nadu padavu, district secretary Ranjit Bangera, district women chief secretary Lavina and city chief secretary Wilma were present.
