Mumbai, Oct 10: Mulund Friends, an organization engaged in promoting social harmony and sports organized 'Souhardotsav - 2011' a communal harmonious programme at Kalidas auditorium, Mulund (West) here on Saturday October 8.
Kannada, being the mother tongue of Kannadigas with a rich history of over 2000 years is not restricted to only Karnataka. Kannada is the harmonious language, while Kannadigas’ residing in other states across the country and rest of the world always uphold their native culture even in distant lands. Souhardotsav that is being organized to promote communal harmony is indeed commendable, said Karnataka state Kannada and culture minister Govind Karajola after inaugurating the event.
Karnataka retired top police officer K V R Tagore in his presidential address said that one who loves himself, loves others, which leads to harmonious living, said Tagore. He also commended Mulund Bunts in organizing such social welfare programmes.
Dakshina Kannada district Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Mumbai Muslim Welfare League president Samaj Ratna Metro Mohammed Haji (NRI entrepreneur), suburban New Panvel social worker Santosh G Shetty (politics), Narayan Bangalore (civil service), Mira Road Dr N A Hegde (medical field), Shyam Prasad Shastry (astrology) were honoured for their extraordinary contributions in their respective fields. Sundar Shetty Vamadapadav, Ravi Hegde, Sundar Shetty Vamadapadav, Ravi Hegde, Sudhir Tonse, Raghuveer Hegde, Santosh Shetty Posal, Dayanand Devadiga were also honoured at the same occasion.
Swami Nirmalanandanat Swami of Adichunchanagiri mutt, Chikkaballapur, South India Sunni Student Federation president M S M Abdul Rashid Zaini Kamil Sakafi, Mulund (East) St Pius parish priest Fr Hubert Goveas, Mulund (West) Guru Nanak Darbar religious leader Avatar Singh Sandhu and others were present.
