Kalaburgi, Apr 18: Rural Development, IT-BT Minister Priyank Kharge has asked BJP sitting MP Dr Umesh Jadhav, who is the BJP-JDS candidate from Kalaburgi, to disclose his ties with the main accused in the Police Sub Inspectors Recruitment Scam, which harmed the lives of the thousands of job aspirants.
Addressing the media at Kalaburgi Congress office, Kharge, who is the son of AICC President Mallikarjuna Kharge, alleged that there was something amiss in the luncheon meeting of Dr Jadhav with the PSI Scam accused and reportedly sought the latter’s support in the elections.
The minister said 58,000 persons had applied for the jobs of police sub inspectors and appeared for the examinations. As many as 114 persons have been already arrested and the 54 candidates, who were illegally selected, have been placed under permanent suspension.
The BJP-JDS candidate had gone to the residence of PSI scam accused and had also participated in the Ramanavami celebrations along with another PSI scam accused. “This is unpardonable and people are suspcius,” the minister said.
Priyank Kharge said Dr Jadhav and BJP opposition leader in the Assembly R Ashok owe an explanation to the people. “Let them come clean and disclose whether the PSI scam that happened during the previous BJP regime was part of a larger scam involving BJP bigwigs,” he said.
The minister said the BJP has promised to bring a law to check examination malpractices in its national election manifesto and Prime Minister Narendra Modi makes tall claims about rooting out corruption.
“In Karnataka, the BJP’s sitting MP in Kalaburgi the residence of the PSI scam accused. State BJP president B Y Vijayendra also talks about corruption. Let the BJP come out with the truth,” he demanded.
The Congress party’s candidate Dr Radhakrishna Doddamani, son in law of Mallikarjuna Kharge, appealed to the voters on the basis of the Congress government’s performance in the State.
