Mangalore, Oct 9: ‘Ujwaadu’, the GSB Konkani Movie made after 35 years will be released at the Big Cinema (Adlabs) in the city on Friday October 14.
Speaking at a press meet here on Saturday October 8, the director of the movie Kasargod Chinna informed that only four full-fledged movies have been made in Konkani so far out of which two were of the GSB Konkani and two of Catholic Konkani. The movie Ujwaadu will focus on the culture, traditions and drawbacks of the GSB community. The movie was made at a cost of 45 lac and was completed in 100 days, he revealed.
He further said that the movie is the result of his everyday experiences being a part of the community. The worship places of GSB Konkani communities are shown in the movies and the movie was shot for 18 days in Karkala, he added.
Actors Shivadhwaj and Neetu will play the lead roles in the movie. It is produced by Anuradha Padiyar and K J Dhananjaya. The screenplay and dialogues have been written by National award-winner Gopalakrishna Pai, and the music has been directed by V Manohar, cinematography by Utpal Nayanar, lyrics are written by Jayant Kaikini and Bhadragiri Achyutadas. Singers Puttur Narasimha Nayak and Shankar Shanubhoghe have rendered their voice to the songs.
The movie will be released first in Mangalore and it will be screened at 4.00 pm and 7.00 pm in Adlabs from October 14.
Along with Kasargod Chinna, Shashi Bhushan, Poornima Suresh, Manjunath Kudva, Satish Naik, Ramdas Prabhu and Prakash Naik were present during the press meet.
