Bangalore, Oct 8: In a gruesome incident which occurred at Polo Garden apartment at Upper Pipeline Road, Seshadripuram in the city on Friday October 7 afternoon, a bank employee was murdered allegedly by the watchman of the apartment she was living in.
The victim has been identified as Anusuya (43), working as cashier for State Bank of Mysore, Seshadripuram branch.
In the afternoon, Anusuya came home for lunch as usual. She entered the lift to reach her apartment located in the third floor, when Ashfaq, who was working as watchman of the apartment since some time, allegedly rushed towards her, slit her throat, and fled.
It is learnt that Ashfaq is a native of Assam. The motive behind the murder is uncertain, as ornaments worn by the woman were intact.
Laxmi, mother of Anusuya, was waiting for the arrival of Laxmi for lunch, when she heard the frantic screams of her daughter and turned panicky. Being sick, she requested her neighbours to rush down.
On doing so, the neighbours found that Anusuya had collapsed, and blood oozing out of her throat had spilled over the lift walls and the ground. The police were then summoned.
City joint police commissioner, B Dayanand, said that a case has been registered in this connection, and that the policemen had launched a search operation for Ashfaq.
