Udupi: ‘Prathvi Suicide: Investigation Progressing’ - SP

Udupi, Oct 8: District superintendent of police (SP), Dr Ravikumar, said that the policemen have undertaken an in-depth investigation into the causes leading to the suicide of upcoming national level athlete, Prathvi, at Brahmavar a few days back.

In reply to queries made by news persons, he said that Kundapur assistant SP, Ram Niwas Sepat, has been independently investigating the case. “Investigations have also been expanded to cover statements of Prathvi’s family members and information that she had received calls from some unidentified people. There are complaints against her coach and employees of the hostel. Continuity has been observed in the diary maintained by the athlete, and we are also looking into causes which led to the missing of four pages of her diary,” he explained.

Kundapur assistant SP, Ram Niwas Sepat, informed that Prathvi’s coach and warden of the hostel are being questioned and that efforts are on to ascertain the timing of the missing of pages from the deceased’s diary. Assuring that investigations are continuing, he informed that Misban, who had been taken into custody in connection with the case, has secured bail.
