Mumbai, Apr 11: "The prestigious organization Bombay South Canara Brahmins Association (BSKBA), Gokul Institute in the financial capital of the nation Brihanmumbai will celebrate its centenary next year (2025). We are proud to announce that we are gearing up for the auspicious occasion marking a significant milestone as we witness one hundred years of the community upheld and cherished by its rich history, values and traditions,” BSKBA president Dr Suresh S Rao Kateelu said.
He said, "We are thrilled to announce that our esteemed association Gokul will be celebrating its centenary year next year in 2025. This significant milestone is a testament to the rich history, values, and traditions that have been upheld and cherished by our community for a hundred years.
"The centenary celebration is not just a commemoration of the passage of time, but a celebration of our collective achievements shared memories and enduring bonds that have bound us together as a community. It provides us with an opportunity to reflect on the journey of our association, from its humble beginnings to its present-day stature, and to honour the contributions of those who have played a pivotal role in shaping its legacy. As we embark on this momentous occasion, it is essential for us to celebrate the centenary year with great enthusiasm and pride.
"During the centenary year we also propose to bring all Tulu Kannadiga's in one platform. We have a common heritage and legacies that bind us together. Celebrating common events as a collective event can yield numerous benefits for our present and future generations. By uniting in celebration, we honour our shared history, foster a sense of unity and camaraderie, and ultimately create a stronger and more vibrant community. With these objectives in mind, we propose conduct a sports activity involving the entire Tulu Kannadiga community of Mumbai for two days. We propose to keep it on February 8 and 9, 2025 at Poisor Gymkhana. On 8th February we propose to hold field and track events along with a few group events for all age groups. On the second day, that is on the 9th of February, we plan to have cricket matches between various associations belonging to the Tulu Kannadigas of Mumbai.
"The intergenerational and inter community benefits of celebrating common events are immense. By engaging with our shared heritage, we can instil a sense of pride and belonging in our younger generations, helping them to connect with their roots and cultivate a strong sense of cultural identity. This shared experience creates a foundation for future generations to build upon, preserving our traditions and ensuring the continuity of our shared heritage. This could also become a platform in which we can address major issues affecting our community.
"In addition, coming together to celebrate common events provides a platform for the exchange of ideas and the forging of new partnerships. This collaborative spirit can foster increased cooperation and support among communities, leading to enhanced communication and shared resources. It can also lead to the development of joint initiatives, such as educational programmes, cultural exchanges, and community development projects, that benefit all involved. It's our humble request to all of you to confirm your participation in the above event. Let's join hands and hearts to celebrate our common event, weaving a tapestry of unity, understanding, and shared experiences, for the betterment of all. Looking forward to your positive response," he said.
