Kundapur, Apr 9: Deepak Kumar Shetty, president of BJP Byndoor Mandala, said, “MP B Y Raghavendra is contesting as BJP candidate for the fourth time from Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency. During his tenure, he has not discriminated against Byndoor and has done lots of development. It is not right on the part of former MLA K Gopala Poojary of criticising MP Raghavendra in the meetings held by Congress.”
Shetty was speaking at the press conference that was held at BJP Lok Sabha office of Byndoor. He further said, “Let Gopal Poojary who was MLA of Byndoor for more than 15 years, give the list of developments done by him. We will give the list of developments done during the tenure of B Y Raghavendra. Due to the dreams of former CM Yediyurappa and the efforts of MP B Y Raghavendra, development of Fisheries port, vented dam, quality roads and drinking water for every house is implemented. MP Raghavendra has provided grant for building various community centres. B Y Raghavendra who is one of the good MPs of India has got good opinion among the people of the constituency.
“Rs one crore grant is given for the construction of Devadiga community centre. Former MLA has spoken wrongly on this matter in the meetings of Congress party. In the past governments tenure grants were withheld. Former MLA should get it released through the CM. Let us match the list of developments done by BJP and Congress. Let us keep them in front of the voters.
“BJP government gave good schemes to the fishermen of the constituency. Congress has not provided any facilities. Though there was coronavirus pandemic for two years, Byndoor constituency has got Rs 3000 crore grant. However, Congress government has not released a single rupee though it has come to power 10 months ago,” he said.
Replying to the accusation of Congress that the present BJP leaders are duplicates, Shetty said, “After the counting of votes is over on June 4, it will be clear as to who is duplicate. Congress is losing base in whole of India. In one year’s time Congress will be empty in Byndoor. There is no question of me deserting BJP at any cost. All the workers have welcomed my achievements as Mandala president. Let all of us get together and make Raghavendra MP once again.”
Priyadarshini Devadiga, secretary of BJP Udupi district said, “MP Raghavendra has not done any injustice to the Devadiga community. He has played stellar role in releasing Rs one crore for the construction of Devadiga community centre. Congress government has withheld the grant that was released for the construction of Devadiga bhavana. The main reason for this is former MLA Gopala Poojary. If he had put pressure on the government to release the grant, by this time the community centre would have been constructed. If he is ready to make a vow in this connection we are ready to come.
“This election is all about electing able leaders for the country and not taking personal grudge. Gopala Poojary who worked as MLA for 15 years should know how to speak about an MP,” she said.
District BJP vice president Sadananda Uppinakudru, district OBC morcha secretary Rajashekhara Devadiga, Krishna Devadiga and Ganesha Ganiga were present.
