Chikkamagaluru, Apr 8: "Peacock feathers do not hatch, but the peacock has hatched. That is through the guarantee of the Congress government. We have read in the newspapers that the Centre has waived off the loans of 11 lakh crores of big companies. The loan waivers of the rich cannot bear the guarantee of the poor. Such social justice?," questioned K Jayaprakash Hegde, former minister, and Congress candidate for Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency.
He was addressing election campaign meetings at Kuravangi village of Chikkamagaluru. He said, "Congress government in the state has provided social justice by providing free electricity to the poor, free bus travel to women and financial assistance to unemployed graduates and diploma holders. Work should be done to create awareness among the people. An attempt is being made to divert people's attention by telling the story of a peacock feather without discussing this. We should be aware enough to do field work by people's representatives. Don't be fooled by mere assurances. Who has got a job in the two crore job promise given during the 2014 elections? More work needs to be done about tourism here. This creates employment opportunities. But what the central government doing is doing is it is selling the industries. How will the youth of the country get jobs?", he questioned.
Jayaprakash Hegde said, "According to the central government, only big companies should earn money. If small enterprises and government-owned companies run at a loss, then the no-worry action is not appropriate. We should keep our children's future in mind and vote. People should also take note of the work done by their constituency representatives. The BJP government's stance of changing the constitution is against the future of this country and democracy. So vote for the Congress party for better days tomorrow and join hands for the future of the country," he requested the voters.
Local Congress leaders and a large number of activists participated in this event.
