Dublin, Apr 4: Amidst the vibrant colours of spring and the scent of blooming flowers, our Konkans Ireland members came together on Easter Sunday for a celebration of faith, fellowship, and joy.
The morning began with everyone being welcomed to the event at the Church of Nativity of the Lord, Montrose Park, Beaumont, Dublin by Veena Machado. The Easter Holy Mass was celebrated by Fr Suresh to mark the resurrection of Jesus Christ. He performed the sacred ceremonies of blessing the fire and holy water and gave a very beautiful homily in his Easter message. As the sun cast its golden rays over the horizon, the beautiful voices in the choir lifted in hymns of praise, echoing the message of hope and renewal.
Following the solemnity of the Easter services, members exchanged wishes and got themselves ready for their group photo and then comforted themselves with some nice starters.
The cultural activities were hosted by Aniya D'Souza who recently moved to Ireland with her family. The stage was set, from little angels to youth and old members who entertained everyone with their voices and dance moves. There were beautiful songs sung, non-stop amazing solo performances and group dances to new and old music beats.
After all the performances, a delicious spread of Indian cuisine by Royal Kitchen was waiting to satisfy everyone’s taste buds. The kids had their easter egg hunt and were happy to carry so many sweets home from their hunt and for their performances. There were many spot games organised by the Easter committee for members of all ages.
A vote of thanks was given by the leader of the Easter Committee Gretta Rodrigues to all families for joining in for the celebrations, the participants and her committee members for their hard work and continued support in making this day truly memorable.
She said, "We believe that Easter is a time for everyone to come together and celebrate the joy of new beginnings. It is heart-warming to see our community united in love and fellowship.”
No Konkani celebration is complete without the Baila dance, everyone danced their hearts out as the sun began to set on another Easter Sunday and it was time for the members to return to their homes.
