Kundapur, Apr 2: "Once a candidate is announced by the party, it becomes official. Regarding Hindutva, let me make it clear that every drop of our blood is Hindu. All those living in this country are Hindus. We do not need lessons from fake Hindutvavadis,” said B Y Raghavendra, BJP candidate for the Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency.
Raghavendra addressed the media at Nagoor on Tuesday, stating, “Under the democratic system, the BJP has officially announced me as the candidate for the Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency. Prime Minister Modi himself has campaigned for me in our constituency, and the BJP and its workers are standing with me.
“We do not flaunt Hindutva for show. Not only me, but B S Yediyurappa also participated in the Ram Janmabhoomi Andolan as a karsevak and hoisted the flag at Edgah grounds in Hubballi. He also participated in hoisting the tricolor at Lal Chowk in Kashmir. Hence, there is no need for us to prove our Hindutva.
“The public remembers every scheme introduced by B S Yediyurappa when he was the CM. He implemented strict laws against cow slaughter. Through the Bhagyalaxmi scheme, he aimed to reduce female foeticide. He introduced various Jayantis of great personalities like Kanakadasa and Valmiki. He prioritized the development of mathas and temples. We do not embrace Hindutva merely for electoral gain. We do not need to learn from those who exploit Hindutva for votes.
“When Eshwarappa visited Shikaripura two weeks ago, he emphasized that Yediyurappa's family treats all communities equally. He also urged everyone to ensure Raghavendra's victory by a margin of over five lac votes. He also praised Vijayendra's excellent work as the state BJP president. Why has Eshwarappa's stance changed within two weeks? Voters are taking note of these things,” he concluded.
