Udupi, Apr 2: Police flag day was marked by Udupi district police on April 2, at the police grounds here. Somappa Naik, retired police inspector Udupi was the chief guest for the programme.
The parade was held by the police personnel.
Addressing the gathering, Somappa Naik said, "Government job is God's job. All the government workers do their duty for a definite time and lock the office. But police stations are never locked. It will always be open. Not considering their own personal problems, police officers do their duties."
Mithun H N, superintendent of police coastal security police said, "Earlier, this day was marked with much respect, but today it is considered as a burden to sell the police flag. This should change. This money collected from the selling of the police flags, is used for a noble cause."
Dr Arun K, police superintendent Udupi district welcomed the gathering.
Guests also released the police flag stamps and contribution for the police welfare fund was also collected on the occasion. Beneficiaries of the police welfare fund were distributed with monetary benefits.
