Mangalore, Oct 4: Sudhir Vasudeva took charge as chairman and managing director of ONGC and as chairman of ONGC Group of Companies (including Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals (MRPL)}, on Monday October 3 at 6.20pm at New Delhi.
Vasudeva has pledged that ensuring energy security by improving production from the aging fields and augmenting production through fast track development of deep water and small & marginal fields, will be his priority.
Known across ONGC for his team management capabilities, Vasudeva is reputed for multitasking and his fast-track decision making approach. As director (Offshore), ONGC, prior to this appointment, Vasudeva has already ensured substantial cost savings for ONGC by facilitating better contract management of offshore infrastructures and facilities.
With over 35 years experience, on the larger canvas of ONGC, including 19 years of managing the Mumbai High, ONGC's largest oil producing fields, Vasudeva is one of the finest technical brains in contemporary Oil and Gas business in India.
A gold medal in chemical engineering and a management graduate, Sudhir Vasudeva joined ONGC as an executive trainee in 1976; he was one of the first generation of engineers specifically identified and entrusted with creating infrastructure to produce oil and gas from offshore fields. Topper of his batch, Vasudeva, steadily worked his way up, with the majority of his assignments in offshore oil-fields.
