Mangaluru, Mar 26: Rich tributes were paid to Fr Mark Valder at a condolence meet organized at Bishop's House, Mangalore by Raknno, diocesan weekly with Konkani Writers' Association on Sunday, 24th March 2024.

The contribution of Fr Mark Valder to Konkani language and literature was remembered by Dr. Edward Nazareth. He recalled how Fr Mark Valder supported young and senior writers and several books were published through Raknno publications. He also remembered his role to start Konkani Bhasha Mandal where several prominent businessmen of GSB and Christian community were brought together to work for the language and literature. His role in social service was also remembered.

Dolphy Lobo recalled the selfless service Fr Mark Valder rendered for the uplift of Konkani language through Raknno. He recalled his humane personality, sincerity and honesty.

Msgr. Maxim Noronha, vicar general of diocese of Mangalore remembered Fr Mark Valder as a true follower of Christ who dedicated his life for the diocese of Mangalore and worked sincerely to help people. He recalled his humility and dedication,

Fr Rupesh Madtha welcomed the family members, well-wishers, Konkani writers for the condolence meeting and Richard Moras proposed vote of thanks.

Laveena Fernandes (Lavi Ganjimatt) read a poem as a tribute to Fr Mark Valder.

Henry Mascarenhas conducted the programme.

Many Konkani writers, artists, activists including Stany Alvares, President of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy were present.
