Somdev Crashes Out of Japan Open


Tokyo, Oct 3 (IANS): India's Somdev Devvarman crashed out of the men's singles first round of $1,214,500 Japan Open Tennis Championships with a 4-6, 3-6 loss to seventh-seeded Czech Radek Stepanek.

The Indian's serve was broken four times during the one-hour-and-32-minute clash.

India's Rohan Bopanna and his Pakistani partner Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi are top seeded in the doubles and they open against Brazilian pair of Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares.
