Mangalore: World Heart Day Awareness Programme, Free Check-Up Camp Inaugurated at Unity Hospital

Mangalore, Sep 29: The ‘World Heart Day 2011’ awareness programme cum free Check-Up Camp for senior citizens, policemen, army, and ex-servicemen, was inaugurated at Unity Health Complex by Seemant Kumar DIGP and Commissioner of Police on Thursday September 29 at 9.30 a.m.
The theme of the programme was ‘Your heart is our sole concern’. The chief guest addressed the gathering by highlighting the need of mental balance for police and army professionals as their work is very strenuous and advised that caution should be taken not to ignore small signs detected through various tests.
Dr C P Habeeb Rahman, chairman of Unity Care and Health Services presided over the function and addressed the gathering. He briefed on the purpose of the camp to take care of policemen, senior citizens, and army professional as they sacrificed their whole life for the service of the country.
Dr Paul Varghese, Interventional Cardiologist highlighted the significance of the elimination of various risk factors causing cardiac diseases. The main concept was ‘Way to man’s grave and heart is through stomach’.
Managing director, Ajmal M Habeeb, senior doctors and all the faculties were present for the function. Welcome speech was delivered by Devaraj B, administrave co-ordinator at Unity Health Complex and the programme concluded with a vote of thanks by professor G Chitra, principal, Unity Academy of Education.
The cardiac health check-up programme will go on till October 15.
