Mangalore, Sep 29: Despite the fright created by H1N1 virus in Kerala, the authorities concerned have been negligent and failed to pay attention when the samples were sent to Karnataka for testing.
At the parcel office of Mangalore Central Railway Station ten samples of H1N1 are lying around, bringing forth the carelessness of authorities. These samples sent from Kanhangad Government Hospital were supposed to reach the microbiology department of Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Mangalore and Manipal.
The workers at the parcel office say that five samples in cold chain arrived at the station on September 22 and another five came two days later. But the samples are still not collected from the people concerned.
Unless properly stated they do not call the recipient for parcel collection. People who send the parcel inform their people to collect it and that’s how the system works, they informed. The cold chain retains the sample between zero and 4 degree C for 48 hours.
