Mangalore, Sep 29: The installation ceremony of the new office bearers of Mulky Zone of the South Kanara Photographer's Association (SKPA) was held here at Hotel Abhinandan Hall.
Shivarama Kadaba, president of SKPA, presided over the function.
T Bashir Ahemed, inspector of Mulky police station, Fr Alfred J Pinto, parish priest of Kinnigoli Church, Manjunath Mallya, manager of Syndicate Bank, Kinnigoli branch, Bhuvanabhirama Udupa, director of Yugapurusha Kinnigoli, and Jagadish Jain, secretary of SKPA were the chief guests of the occasion.
Raphael Rebello and Yashwanth Aikala, who were elected as president and secretary respectively for the year 2011-12, have been installed with their office bearer team.
Seshappa Devadiga, proprietor of Akshaya Studio, Mulky who completed his 25 years in the field of photography as a professional photographer, was felicitated on the occasion.
While congratulating the photographers to their unity through the association, T Bashir Ahemed explained how photographs are taken as evidence in some investigating cases and sometimes even in the judiciary to give the verdict in some typical cases.
While remembering his school days where he missed the opportunity of taking photographs which might help him to remember his school mates Fr Alfred pinto said that more can be achieved through the unity and congratulated the photographer's for doing good service to the society.
In his presidential speech, Shivarama Kadaba requested the members to be united through the association which is has12 zones with 2669 members in Mangalore and Udupi district and stands first in photographer's union in the Karnataka state. He advised the photographers to avoid unhealthy competition and give good service and better photographs.
New members along with the existing one’s were honoured by giving Life member confirmation certificate.
Lionel Pinto, former president welcomed the gathering. Mohan Rao, former secretary, submitted the annual report. Yashwanth Aikala, secretary, proposed the vote of thanks. K B Suresh, compered the programme.
