Kundapur, Sep 29: In an incident that occurred on Wednesday September 28 near Kolkebail Lord Siddeshwara Temple near Siddapur in the taluk, some thieves, who were trying to steal some cattle, escaped. But, the vehicle in which they were fleeing, met with an accident.
When the gang of thieves was loading the cows which were grazing at a hillock near the temple onto the truck, they saw some local people approaching the spot. The thieves, developing cold feet, made good their escape in their vehicle. However, the vehicle they were fleeing in fell by its side near Airubail. The thieves then abandoned the vehicle, ran away from the spot, and went towards Kundapur in a bus, eyewitnesses said.
A Tata Sumo vehicle was converted into a transport vehicle by the thieves, by removing its rear seats for accommodating the cattle. The policemen visited the spot, confiscated the vehicle, and launched a manhunt for the thieves. A case was also registered in Shankaranarayana police station in this connection.
