Mumbai, Mar 4: Vijaya college, Mulki global alumni association held their special annual meeting at the Mumbai Metro hotel auditorium, Sakinaka in the evening on March 2. Pravin B Shetty, president of Bantara Sangha Mumbai, former student of the college inaugurated the programme.
Dr Srimani Shetty, principal of the college was the guest of honour. VCMGAAM president Vasudev M Salian chaired the programme. Honorary president Ananda Shetty, vice president, advocate Shekar S Bhandary, honorary chief secretary Bhasker B Shetty and honorary treasurer CA Rohitaksha Devadiga were on the dais.
“Kanndigas living in Mumbai and Vijaya college students in particular are known for respecting mother land, mother tongue and the teachers,” said Srimani Shetty.
Professor Nagaraja and professor Anusooya spoke reciprocating to the felicitation by the former students of the college.
“Vijaya college Mulki alumni association Mumbai unit has merged with Vijaya college Mulki global alumni association and represents the former students of the college spread across the world. We would like that the lives of the current students will be better by their help. Extend your monetary help considering that the college is a temple,” said Vasudev Salian, in his presidential address.
Retired professors Nagaraja G Nayak and his wife and Anusooya Karkera and her husband were felicitated by the former students. Former students of the college and entrepreneur Aikala Vishwanath Shetty, Mohandas Hejmady, Shashikanth M Kotian and Vagdevi Kanchan were presented special achievers awards. The children of former students were distributed school stationery.
CA Shanker B Shetty, Ranjan Shetty, Bhasker M Salian, Kashmira Bhasker Shetty, K N Suvarna, Lawrence D’ Souza, Dinesh C Salian, Rathna Shetty, Ligory D’ Souza Mulki, Ravindra Putran, Kishore Chowta, Petemane Prakash Shetty, Suresh B Shetty and others expressed their gratitude to the teachers.
Shashidar Bangera initiated the prayer and compered the cultural programme. A silent prayer was held for those who passed away during the year. Anand Shetty welcomed. Bhasker B Shetty gave a keynote address and read the annual report. CA Rohitaksha Devadiga tabled the accounts. Sarita Rao and Pushpa Shetty introduced the teachers who received teacher’s respects. Sunil Shetty Padubidri, CA Kishore Kumar Suvarna and Swarna Jyothi introduced the felicities. Harish Hejmady compered the programme. Shekar Bhandary proposed a vote of thanks. Children of members performed dances as part of a cultural programme.
