Shimoga, Sep 26: State BJP president, K S Eshwarappa, said that Karnataka Governor, H R Bhardwaj, has been exceeding his limits. He said that the behaviour and way of functioning of the Governor are examples for misuse of democracy. He also gave the example of Gujarat Governor for foraying outside the jurisdiction.
Eshwarappa said that the state unit of BJP will shortly be writing to the President of India, seeking details of duties, jurisdiction, and limitations of Governors, and seeking constitutionals amendments wherever necessary.
“It is expected of the opposition parties keep heaping allegations on the government. But, how far is the Governor justified in giving his response to each of these allegations, and behaving like an opposition leader? In Gujarat too, the Governor transgressed her powers and appointed the Lokayukta without consulting the elected government. Like her, Hansraj Bhardwaj has been exceeding his limits since long,” he charged.
Eshwarappa felt that the attitude of the Governors has of late been derisive the democratic values, and that the post of the Governor is being misused. He alleged that the Governors, rather than doing what they are expected to do, are trying to do some things that are beyond their purview.
