Udupi, Sep 23: The department of commerce (BBM Programmes) at Manipal University, here inaugurated a Chartered Institute of Management Accountants Club (CIMA), Manipal wing along with a seminar on “Inter Bank Mobile Payment System” in association with Syndicate Bank on Thursday September 22.
N V Durshan, assistant general manager of Syndicate Institute of Bank Management here, inaugurated the CIMA Club by lighting the lamp. Durshan also gave away the badges for CIMA to the office bearers. In his inaugural speech he spoke about the recent trends in the banking industry and also highlighted the role of electronic banking.
Gautham Sharma, faculty of Syndicate Institute of Bank Management delivered the seminar on 'Inter Bank Mobile Payment System'. He stressed on the core banking solution and explained the three ‘A’s in banking namely accessibility, affordability and availability. Sharma also gave inputs on the registration process of mobile banking and mobile PIN and Mobile Money Identifier (MMID).
Sandeep S Shenoy, head of department of commerce welcomed the gatering. Guru Prasad Rao, faculty and coordinator of CIMA briefed on CIMA Club activity. Faculty member Sai Sachidhananda delivered the vote of thanks.
Students from the department of commerce BBM (E banking and finance) and BBM (financial markets) were present on the occasion.
