Mangalore: Student from Manipur Meets Watery Grave at Tannirbavi

Mangalore, Sep 23: A student named Sorevung (19) drowned at Tannirbavi beach near Panambur here on Thursday September 22. He was from Tushar village in Manipur state. Sorevung had visited the beach along with his classmates, and was dragged into the sea by the currents.
The student stayed in the hostel here. The mid-term examinations were to begin on Friday.
The ill-fated student was a second year BSc degree student of St Aloysius College in the city. He was accompanied by his classmates, Nagaraj, Babish, Pratik, and Chandan.
Sorevung entered the sea along with some of his friends who knew swimming, and was ahead of them. He suddenly got pulled away by the currents in the sea, and though his friends tried their best to save him, they did not succeed.
Local fishermen, who then began a search operation, recovered the body of the student after about two hours. A case was registered in this connection at Panambur police station.
