Mangaluru, Feb 9: Bajpe police apprehended Mohammed Sharif (23), a resident of the Paper Mill vicinity in Pranthya village of Moodbidri, and Hasainar (28), residing near the Madrasa in Thodar village, along with their car on Thursday February 8. They were accused of stealing hundreds of cows from Karkala, Ajekaru, Bajegoli, Kervase, and Thirthahalli, utilizing fake number plates on their vehicle.
Hasainar, one of the accused, has previous cases of cow theft and sheet theft registered against him at Bajpe police station. On Thursday, the station inspector of Bajpe police station, Sandeep, received a tip-off about a suspicious white car roaming around Mucchhur cross in the morning. PSI Revanasiddappa and personnel intercepted the car near Mucchhur cross, close to Edapadavu village. While one suspect managed to escape, two were apprehended by the police.
Upon interrogation, the arrested individuals confessed to stealing two cows and one calf from a cow shed in Tiplabettu of Yedapadavu village. They admitted to selling the stolen cows to Ansar of Thodar. The white Hyundai car, valued at Rs 5 lac, was confiscated from the accused. The stolen cows belonged to Sujata, a resident of Tippebettu in Badaga Yedapadavu village. A case related to this incident was filed at Bajpe police station.
