Istanbul, Sep 19 (IANS) Russia and Japan secured the men's and women's team titles at the World Wrestling Championships that concluded here Sunday.
Russia topped the team rankings in the men's Greco-Roman category with 41 points followed by Turkey with 35 points and Iran at 30 points.
In the women's category, Japan led the rankings with 52 points followed by Canada with 33 points and Mongolia with 32 points.
In the men's freestyle category, Russia led the team rankings with 43 points followed by Iran with 41 points and the United States with 38 points, Xinhua reported.
The finals for individual events were held in the men's freestyle discipline of 66kg, 74kg and 120kg weight classes.
In the 66kg, Iran's Mehdi Taghavi Kermani took gold with silver going to Tatsuhiro of Japan and bronze to Livan Lopez Azcuy of Cuba and Jabrail Hasanov of Azerbaijan.
In the 74kg, Jordan Burroughs won the gold for the United States with silver going to Sadegh Saeed Goudarzi of Iran and bronze to Davit Khutsishvili of Georgia and Azerbaijan's Ashraf Aliyev.
In the 120kg, Alexei Shemalov of Belarus took the gold medal with silver going to Bilyal Makhov of Russia and bronze to Davit Modzmanashvili of Georgia and Jamaladdin Magomedov of Azerbaijan.
