Mangalore, Sep 19: Although gruesome murder of mother and daughter at Panjimogeru in the broad daylight has almost completed 3 months now, the police have not succeeded in their investigations which prompted the DYFI activists to carry out a protest in front of DC’s office on Monday September 19.
Addressing the protesters, Muneer Katipall, district president of DYFI said that the district in-charge minister has made a ridiculous statement to the media that the boat tragedy will be handed over to CBI investigation, even though there’s no mystery involved in that accident but it is surprising that the heinous murder case is not handed over to CBI yet, he pointed.
“Local residents of Kavoor, Kuloor and Panji Mogeru vicinity have lost trust in the local Kavoor station police as they have been torturing some people in the name of investigation. This is the frustrated act of police as they have not been able to trace the real culprits. Very soon the residents will stage a dharna in front of the police commissioners’ office urging for the arrest of real criminals involved in this murder case”, he warned.
Kavoor police have been resorted to unscientific method of police investigation on baseless ways. Residents in the region are leading their life in fear and apprehension. Men are scared to go to work leaving their spouse alone at home. As the murderers are not caught yet, number of crime activities also feared to jump as criminals are not afraid of police now, he added.
City president of DYFI B K Imtiyaz, former corporator Mohammed Sharif, congress leader Moideen Bava, Dayanand Shetty among others were present.
The protestors in a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister of Karnataka have urged to withdraw the case from police department and to hand over it to the CBI.
