Kasargod: Petrol Price Hike - Kerala Shuts Down, Normal Life Thrown off Gear

Kasargod, Sep 19: In the wake of a bandh called by the Left parties and the BJP across the state on Monday September 19 condemning the hike in the price of petrol, movement of vehicles on the road was sporadic and normal life was thrown off gear.
Private and government buses in Kasargod district did not operate at all. Shops and business complexes were kept shut in city areas.
People who came to city on urgent work had to struggle to go back to their places as there were no vehicles. Only a handful of two wheelers were seen on the roads.
Most of the schools and colleges remained closed. Attendance in government offices was considerably less. The harthal started at 6 am and will continue till 6 pm. In the afternoon BJP at its district office, and Left parties and labour unions will hold rallies, sources said.
Strict police vigilance is in place to avert untoward incidents.
