Mumbai, Jan 30: GPK Trust and BSKB Association celebrated 75th Republic Day at Saraswati auditorium, Sion east on Jan 26.
President of Ashraya, Rajarama Acharya and honorary secretary A P K Pothi in the company of office bearers from both the organizations unfurled the national flag.
The hall programme was presided over by president Dr Suresh S Rao. Vice president Vaman Holla, Avinash Shastri, honorary secretary A P K Pothi, treasurer Haridas Bhat, joint secretary Y Mohanraj and Chitra Melmane and Gokula Kalavrinda president P Vinodini R Rao were present. Former BSKBA president K Subbanna Rao was felicitated with ‘Gokula Ratna’ award.
Students of SSC, HSC, degree course and higher education were distributed scholarships. Recipients of doctorate in different sectors, Dr Y V Madhusoodan Rao, Dr Pragati Hebbar and Dr Archana Pravin Kumar were honored with mementos.
Dr Suresh requested cooperation from members to collect funds for the projects of Gokula. Subbanna Rao expressed his gratitude for his six decades of relationship between him and Gokula, praised the renovation of Ashraya and Gokula, temple and thanked the board of trustees and office bearers of Gokula for having selected him for the award.
Several members took advantage of the health camp held by Wakard hospital, Mumbai central. Members, women and children presented patriotic songs, group dances, western dances versus classical dances, Jugalbandi and dance face off. Children performed a ‘Rani Abbakka’ skit directed by Geeta Herla and Shantilakshmi Udupa. Members of Gokula performed ‘Ajji Asthi’ drama directed by Shailini Rao.
Vaman Holla welcomed. Sanjeevini charitable trust board of trustee’s member Lakshmish Acharya gave details about the trust and Gokula Rathna award.
Vidya Rao compered the programme. A P K Pothi proposed a vote of thanks. The programme concluded after the national anthem.
